Spring 2026 Community Education
Community education is to promote learning and social development. A common defining feature is that programs and activities are developed to community interests. The purpose of community education is to develop relationships among individuals with similar interests. These classes are open to the community to learn hobbies and various skills.
Classes are on a first come basis. You may sign up at ACT's office during normal business hours Monday - Thursday from 7am to 6pm and Friday from 7am to 2pm.

Monday
Photography
This is an entry level course designed to learn about digital cameras, lens, and terminology. Students will use their digital cameras to take pictures and learn how the camera and lens work together to change or manipulate the result. Class will meet on Mondays 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm for 6 weeks starting March 2nd. Class cost is $75.
Tuesday
Home Maintenance
This course will cover basic home maintenance and repairs including plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting and drywall repair. Class will meet on Tuesdays 5:30pm to 7:30pm for 6 weeks starting March 3rd. Class cost is $75.
English Paper Piecing
This course will cover basics for sewing/quilting with the English Paper Piecing technique. Students will complete a wall art piece during class. Class will meet on Tuesdays 5:30pm to 7:30pm for 8 weeks starting March 3rd. Students will supply material, string and needles with an estimated cost of $20 and the class cost is $100.
First Aid/CPR/Stop the Bleed
The first week sessions - CPR for the Healthcare Provider (you do not have to be a healthcare provider; this is just a little more in-depth CPR training) - will cover Basic Life Support for the Healthcare Provider. This includes; Scene size-up and safety, personal protective equipment, recognizing an emergency, assessing a victim, delivering cardiopulmonary resuscitation, treating an airway obstruction, AED usage and more for adults, children and infants. Following evaluation, participants will receive certification in CPR for the Healthcare Provider via the Emergency Care and Safety Institute. (ECSI)
The second week sessions - First Aid - will consist of Basic First Aid training. Participants will learn how to provide immediate, temporary care for injuries and illnesses until professional help arrives. Skills include recognition of medical and traumatic emergencies, basic bleeding control, wound care, splinting, providing care for sudden illness, and more. Following evaluation, participants will receive certification in First Aid via the Emergency Care and Safety Institute. (ECI)
The third sessions -Stop the Bleed - will be training in Stop the Bleed, a course produced by The American College of Surgeons that consist of recognizing and controlling life threatening bleeding. Participants will receive a certification from ACS in Stop the Bleed.
All sessions will involve hands on skills application.
